Summer Happenings in the Hamptons
It is impossible to be bored while in the Hamptons. When you are not luxuriating on the beach, exploring the dunes and woodlands, boating, swimming, or shopping, you can attend myriad special events, from talks to art exhibits to horse shows. Below is just a sampling.
July 20
Dan’s Taste of Two Forks
Fairview Farm at Mecox, 19 Horsemill Lane, Bridgehampton
Not only will you be able to sample food from 40 local chefs and wine from 20 area vineyards, but you will do so while listening to tunes spun by DJ Phresh and admiring the moonlight reflected in Mecox Bay. A portion of the proceeds benefit All for the East End, a nonprofit that supports more than 1,000 other Hamptons charities.

St. Barth Hamptons Gala

As if the Hamptons were not idyllic enough, this soiree aims to replicate the glamour of St. Barth, with tropical foliage, music courtesy of DJ Lee Kalt, gourmet edibles, celebs galore, and plenty of champagne. This year will be the 8th annual St Barth Hamptons Gala, hosted by Charlotte McKinney.
July 21-September 2
The Hampton Designer Showhouse

Alexa Hampton, Danielle Rollins Interiors, and John Robshaw Textiles are just a few of the star designers transforming a home into an interiors tour de force. Proceeds benefit Stony Brook Southampton Hospital.
July 22 & 23
East Hampton TV Festival
Guild Hall, 158 Main Street, East Hampton
Be among the first to see new TV series and independently produced projects at the inaugural East Hampton TV Festival. Screenings will be held both days. The first evening includes the opening gala with a red-carpet cocktail reception; prizes are awarded on the second evening.
July 24
Project Fusion Saxophone Quartet

Hear works by Bach and Gershwin as you have never before: performed on the sax—or rather, on four saxophones. This free concert is part of the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival’s summer season. Other shows include a program of Mozart, Mendelssohn, and George Crumb performed by chamber musicians on July 28 and a program of duets on August 17.

Gallery Talk: David Salle
Parrish Art Museum, 279 Montauk Highway, Water Mill
Artist David Salle’s works can be seen in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, London’s Tate Modern, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, to name but a few museums. Here he talks about a series of his paintings inspired by the Sistine Chapel that are making their U.S. debut at Parrish.

Wm. Brian Little Concert: Music from the Movies

One of the highlights of this year’s Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival is sure to be this concert of music from such movies as “Deception,” “Schindler’s List,” and “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” performed among the towering sculptures of the Channing Daughters winery and accompanied by wine and hors d’oeuvres.

August 17
East Hampton Artists & Writers Charity Softball Game
Herrick Park, 67 Newtown Lane, East Hampton
A fundraiser for local charities, this annual game was first played in 1954, and it continues to attract celebrities both on the field and in the stands. Last year’s participants included Ken Auletta, Alec Baldwin, Carl Bernstein, Walter Isaacson, and Mike Lupica.
August 25-September 1
The Hampton Classic

Though it encompasses more than 200 equestrian events, including hunter and jumper contests, the Hampton Classic is more than a horse show. There are also activities for kids, including pony rides and a petting zoo, roughly 80 retail tents, food tents, and plenty of space for picnicking.
August 26
Isaac Mizrahi Presents Queen Size
Bay Street Theater, Long Wharf, Sag Harbor
Isaac Mizrahi the fashion designer is also Isaac Mizrahi the cabaret performer. Backed by jazz musicians, he will perform songs by the likes of Leonard Bernstein, Cole Porter, and Jimmy Webb when not telling stories and opining on just about everything. This performance is the finale of Bay Street Theater’s Monday Music series; other performers include Linda Lavin on July 15 and Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo on August 12.
August 28
Bubblemania: Comedy… with a Drip

Kids are not the only one who will enjoy the bubble wizardry of Cirque du Soleil consultant Casey Carle, who creates bubble sculptures and sets streams of rainbow-hued soap-and-water spheres dancing to jazz music.
