New York City’s first-ever historic district makes up much of Brooklyn Heights, which is why so many of the neighborhood’s 19th-century buildings remain intact. That’s not to say Brooklyn Heights lives in the past, however. This compact neighborhood—roughly a third of a square mile—is now one of the city’s most desirable. It has excellent transportation options into Manhattan, including the pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly Brooklyn Bridge, and fabulous views of the East River and beyond. Brooklyn Bridge Park offers attractions for adults, kids, and canines alike, and foodies will love the variety of restaurants, bakeries, and specialty food shops. What’s more, the neighborhood is one of the city’s most family-friendly, with playgrounds and classes galore. Little wonder celebrities with kids such as Adam Driver, Paul Rudd, and Amy Schumer have made Brooklyn Heights their home.
