It might sound a little old-fashioned today but before people got their news on Twitter, Instagram and TikTok, they read newspapers and tuned into evening television news broadcasts. From 1983 until he died in 2005, Canadian-born and naturalized American Peter Jennings served as the sole anchor of “ABC World News Tonight.” During his long tenure at the desk, Jennings became one of the most enduring and trusted names in American broadcast news. Among his accolades are 16 Emmys and two prestigious Peabody Awards.
