Real estate deals plummeted across Manhattan in the first quarter of the year, with would-be buyers grappling with high mortgage rates and economic instability, according to a host of reports released Tuesday by some of the New York City borough’s biggest brokerages.
The number of sales in the three months from January to the end of March dropped by more than 1,000, or 37.5%, from the same time last year, according to figures compiled by Douglas Elliman, which added that the pace of the market is now running at its slowest rate in two years.
