Dating back to 1825, it may be possible to trace Soho’s rich history through 431 Broome Street alone. It was originally constructed as a single-family home, but a later owner would convert it to a boardinghouse with a saloon at the parlor level. The last of the residential tenants left in the mid-1870s, and the building would house various businesses (a commercial printer, an office fixture dealer, and a plumbing shop among them) for the next 100 years (h/t Dayonian in Manhattan).
